After four hours of driving, two bathroom stops (both, much to everyone's surprise, requested by Sarah "the camel" Finamore), some discussion about possible future family vacation destinations (the Grand Canyon received favorable support from those in attendance), and some snacks, we approached the George Washington Bridge in New York City.

And much to our delight and surprise, the city hung a flag to mark our arrival. Sarah described it as "Awesome!". Caleb used the descriptor "Cool" to describe his feelings of the patriotic symbol.

After watching Old Glory as we passed under it, the kids immediately returned their full attention to their books.

Four hours down.  Four or so left to go. Cape Cod here we come.
